Mission Statement
To keep the faith of St. Mel alive and vital through the various organizations and programs developed by this office in cooperation with the people of the parish. To assist the clergy in encouraging all parishioners to participate in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church as fully as possible and to foster a deep prayer life with God. To invite all to become incarnations of the Gospel; to spread the Good News by word and most importantly through actions. To assist in meeting the pertinent needs of the community through service. To be welcoming to all and appreciative of the different gifts that allow St. Mel parish to love, live, and serve together as a Catholic community.

RCIA–Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
This is a process, which provides preparation for adults who seek full initiation into the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. This process is also adapted for older children who seek full initiation into the Church and is sometimes referred to as The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC).

The RCIA process also provides for:

  • The preparation of baptized Catholics who wish to complete their initiation into the Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
  • The preparation of validly baptized Christians from other traditions who wish to be brought into Full Communion with the Catholic Church.
